On Becoming Small, and Losing it for the Nuns.

This post is going to be a bit more personal that usual.  It's about me, my health, and becoming small.

Recently I have been having some troubles with my back, and according to my doctor it is because I am "a bit" overweight.  Realistically, "a bit" is putting it lightly - or heavily as the case may be.  So, my doctor recommended a particular weight loss program that is run right out of his office, and I decided that it's high time I become a healthier, happier, holier and smaller priest.

Once that decision was made, I decided that I could use this exercise in self control, aka, diet, to benefit more than just me.  I began thinking that maybe, just maybe, people would pledge a dollar amount for each pound that I lose before Ash Wednesday and that money could be donated to a worthy cause.

In thinking about a worthy cause I immediately thought of my dear sisters in North Carolina who are trying to raise the money to build a monastery in which they will live a cloistered, prayerful life of Adoring Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament.  I have visited these holy Nuns numerous times, and even spent Holy Week with them last year.  They are some of the happiest, fun loving, and prayerful Nuns that you could ever hope to meet.  Their only problem is that they do not have a proper monastery where they can live the life they are called by God to live.  If you want to learn more about them you can visit their website and have a look around by clicking here.

If you want to make a pledge, please email me by clicking here.  Include the dollar amount that you will donate to the Nuns for every pound I lose before Ash Wednesday.

I will be providing regular updates here on the blog.

Thank you for helping to support the Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration.

WE'D LIKE TO SEE A PICTURE OF YOU AS YOU LOSE -- JUST A BACK VIEW WOULD BE FINE.

I'll pledge for your loss by this Ash Wednesday and I will double that pledge if you have kept off those pounds by Ash Wednesday of 2013.
